Few people know what to do with their lives, yet they’re very active. I’m amazed how active they are, considering their job requires hardly any activity. It seems to me, finding a life goal—or at least doing something that’s fulfilling—doesn’t take activity as much as thought. I don’t see a lot of thought. I see a lot of people saying they “love” their jobs, then find out it’s only because they’ve got a great boss. It’s amazing how many people “love” their jobs simply because the job itself doesn’t interfer with their lives.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
