Good article. Columbia—like most Latin-American countries—tend to want change to happen all at once. Santos could very well be weak, but the issue of dealing with FARC is fundamental to change. That takes diplomacy more than ball-busting. Columbians must understand that solving the drug issue (or even coming close) will allow for other issues to be resolved. America is a generous country IF they see results. Improved economic ties could result. Far greater amounts of money could enter Columbia. The answer now is to stay focused and solve one thing at once.
