Hell of a piece, Matt. Surprised it hasn’t been made into a movie (or has it?). Very well researched and tragically real in terms of what miners—and many worker groups—went through to have any kind of representation and rights in the eyes of the government, state and federal. That it led to a conglomeration of unions later I supposed justified the violence. It’s a shame it had to lead to so many deaths, but at least it shows human beings can—and should—stand up to oppression, especially when it’s so marked. True heroes and villians in this piece. Really enjoyed reading. Thanks.
