I just remember a documentary on Norman Leer where he admits stealing the idea of “All In the Family from a British comedy series. That was probably our best and most profound comedy. Even the offshoots were better than other sitcoms. I see hints of genius with shows like The Big Bang Theory, but eventually someone decides to “normalize,” getting everyone married off before the audience actually believes “craziness” is the best way to have friends. We can’t let audiences think craziness is good, can we? That could lead to dancing and key parties and swimming in soap suds. Then you have anarchy.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
