I like Bernie Sanders and many of his policies, but it concerns me. Running against Trump won’t be a case of battling ideologies. The far Right feels somehow indemnified having someone who say say, “I’ve improved the economy by slashing programs and imposing tariffs. Sure, farmers will go bankrupt and small businesses will fail, but Big Business will survive, and being in the pockets of Big Pharma, the NRA and banks is still the best bet to keep America moving. That’s appealing to people who don’t want to think, believing it’s just the “way of the world.” What the impeachment hearings did show (hopefully) is that the GOP is a disastrously corrupt party, and in the book “Silk Roads,” the fall of Rome wasn’t attributed to invasion as much as a “corrupt Senate and a general population too concerned with their own comforts (games, etc.) to realize that state was stagnating.” Sanders probably isn’t the best bet to go against Trump. I don’t know who is, to tell you the truth. The Democrats better figure it out, though, before Trump decimates more public policies, and brands America as a country of idiots, which appears to be the general opinion in the rest of the world.
