I love your stuff, Svetlana, and agree with your comments on Caitlin’s post. The danger of any “campaign” like #Me Too is our herding instinct. We all want to fit in, particularly those who feel disenfranchised and alone. Based on comments I received for my article on this: “Eating Out of The Dog’s Mouth,” so many people feel isolated right now. They wrote to me, arguing that “rape is real” and “everyone woman’s been raped.” In each comment I saw hurt, a deep, personal hurt. I don’t know their backgrounds, but obviously all the rape allegations have set off a spark, and the anger and hurt are coming out. I agree that “fitting in” and the “Me Too” culture will trivialize real rape, and all of us men are expecting a phone call or a legal letter telling us we’re being served for events from the 80s. We’re all nervous (men, that is), but, God, I’m seeing a lot of hurt, a lot of anger and a lot of hatred. Anyway, please keep up your voice, Svetlana. You won’t always be right, but I love your clarity and your bravery. Take care.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
