I place part of the blame on parents who tell their kids “Get married, get a job, support your family—all good.” How can you go to university—having a goal—when your role models (in this case, parents) make out like a job is just a way to “get things.” We honestly don’t aspire to anything anymore because nobody “inspires” us anymore. What kids wants to grow up to be president—maybe Apple or Microsoft, but that’s only to get discounts on cool stuff. People don’t seem to realize how close we are to being those automatons in Apple’s “1984” commercial (except all we have is a sledgehammer app).
