I think the emasculation of men is more media and political than anything else. In Finland, men can now be fined for making sexual or even insulting advances. Combine that with how divorce settlements are handled now (sometimes punitive), men are simply drawing back. What I see in the near or distant future is a wariness on men’s parts, with “happy marriages” defined by exactly what you said: the partnership where women ignore the hype of feminism, and realize relationships can be healthy and productive. For those who buy into the notion that men are essentially “creeps,” it could get very lonely as men decide it’s better to avoid relationships that have power struggles or this definition of women “not having to take it anymore.” In business, pettiness is very real, and the complaints I hear are more from women (particularly in the education system). So I very much doubt men are emasculating themselves in pursuit of women. Some are, obviously, but that may be a case of co-dependence. I’ve seen truly co-dependent males, often terrified to be alone, and if that means emasculating themselves, they’ll gladly do it. Other men will simply go their own way, some simply turning their interests to, well, other interests. Thanks for your response.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
