I’m always fascinated by articles on writing, especially ones telling aspiring writers to be persistent. Congrats on building your audience. It takes time and, yes, it takes momentum. One thing that surprised me, though. You mentioned that you spent an hour writing your posts. I’m sure that’s about as much time as most people spend—which surprises me even more. I post twice a week, and my posts take about 10–12 hours. That’s about what spent on each piece of copy I wrote in advertising for 40 years. So while I agree with everything you’ve said, I’d advise all writers (aspiring or otherwise), to spend more time on each post. Learn to hone, learn to express with as few words as possible, learn to be original and, most of all, think. Only then will readership truly mirror the effort you put into your work. That’s my two cent’s worth from an old writer. Thanks for your post.
