I’m not a Trump supporter, but I expect, when a president of one country deals with another—if they’re trying to form a coalition to fight ISIS or anything as serious—you have to give information, you have to show good faith, even if it means supplying sensitive details. When you don’t show this “good faith,” you never get full cooperation, which is essentially what we’ve had so far with all dealings in the Middle East and North Korea. It’s one thing to be careful, it’s another to miss opportunities because of “trust issues.” Should we trust Russia or China—or Saudi Arabia? Probably not fully, but breaking ISIS requires worldwide commitment. If you understand the history of two world wars, it was lack of commitment from the start that allowed characters like the Nazis to expand and flourish when they could have been snuffed out back in 1936. If we don’t know our history, we’re doomed to repeat it (I think I’m paraphrasing Henry Ford).

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
