Interesting piece, Martin. As much as I agree with your notion of the Underworld, I’m not sure you made your own case. If we listen (I believe, like you, it’s crucial), where do we got next? I’m all for the awakening of the spirit, but I’m also a pragmatist. We all want enlightenment (if while we still drink from plastic bottles), but so many people are happy with that. It doesn’t turn rivers clean or return trees to the mountains. What’s your advice for where we go next? The “enlightened” will need to know that, otherwise they’ll stay enlightened, figuring this is where “the gods come in.” No gods are coming in, and no enlightenment will change our present course. I love your analogies, your deep sense of personal responsibility. Now let’s take enlightenment to the next stage, the action, the response. What do we do next?
