I’ve learned a lot here, Owen. I’ve been wondering for years why I’m not hearing dialogue anymore. I’ve researched this, finding all sorts of informed opinions. One IT guy contended that it’s the directors of films caring more about the sound effects than the dialogue. Others contend it’s the set-up of my television. Now I’m wondering if it’s simpler than that. Are companies like Amazon and Google all part of an overall plan to put speakers in every household that lends access to organizations. Not paranoid (okay, maybe a little), but it’s something to think about. Thanks for the post. Really informative and well written.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
