Nice piece, Jon. I had a date once who didn’t show up. I drove the thirty kilometres back home, swearing to never go on a date again. Then the phone rang and it was her, apologizing, saying she got lost. She agreed to meet me close to my house. We had dinner, became best friends in a matter of hours, and she went on to help me with my novel, editing the chapters as I finished them. I dedicated the book to her and we’ve remained good friends. It’s a strange world, some people popping up when we least expect it. But obviously they come when we need them most. Thanks for the post.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
