People who write badly, or write simply to get their books on Amazon, are looking for attention. I hear them all the time at cocktail parties, saying they just got published. They didn’t get published, they published themselves. There’s a huge difference. Since people write to get attention, it’s also possible—even probable—that they’ll stop writing when they don’t get attention.
