This absolutely boggles my mind: As of last year, it was still illegal for residents of Yaphank, New York — the town that hosted Camp Siegfried — to sell their house to buyers of non-German descent. What an amazing time in American history when free voice allowed this kind of dissension as the Nazis were already moving into The Rhineland. Great article, Matt. Very well researched and written. Thanks.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
