Very good piece, Zat. I like this thought: “In most developed countries, we live in societies of abundance, and after a while of getting used to that abundance, it can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that less is bad. It’s actually often the opposite of that.” So many of us have left the business world, writing, reading and doing without. It’s actually very liberating “living without,” even if our friends think we’re crazy. Soon, you realize that there’s very little you need, and living in the world of a book—especially one you’re writing—forms its own entertainment (on a daily basis). Thanks for your post.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
